The Curriculum

The Master of Science in Nursing degree is open to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) graduates or those who will complete their BSN degree prior to enrollment.

Our graduate nursing program consists of 30 total credits delivered in a flexible online format. The curriculum includes eight 3-credit courses offered in accelerated 7-week sessions, and one 6-credit course completed over a traditional 15-week semester. This structure allows students to focus on one course at a time while still progressing through the program in an accelerated manner, helping working nurses balance their educational goals with professional and personal commitments. Students who wish to further accelerate their progression may choose to take more than one course during a 7-week session.

    • NURS-5307 Advanced Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, and Physical Assessment  
    • NURS-5104 Advanced Application of Nursing Research and Ethical Practice  
    • NURS-5109 Quality and Information Management in Healthcare  
    • NURS-5111 Leadership and Interprofessional Partnerships 
    • NURS-5113 Health Care Policy, Economics, and Population Health  
    • NURS-5301 Educational Theories and Curriculum Design in Nursing  
    • NURS5303 Adv. Teaching Methods in Nursing Education and Assessment/ Evaluation 
    • NURS5310 Nursing Education Advanced Role Development Practicum  (6 credits) 

    New students can begin these courses in the Fall or Spring semesters.   

At the completion of the Master of Science in Nursing Program, students will:

  2. Person Centered Care. Develop interventions that promote patient-centered, safe, high-quality nursing care.  
  3. Population Health. Collaborate with stakeholders to advocate for policy changes and lead implementation of evidence-based practices to improve health outcomes and equity.
  4. Scholarship for Nursing Discipline. Engage in ethical nursing scholarship by critically evaluating and disseminating evidence to drive change and innovation in nursing practice. 
  5. Quality and Safety. Lead quality improvement initiatives to optimize health outcomes and mitigate workplace risks.
  6. Interprofessional Partnerships. Promote interprofessional collaborations to enhance the healthcare experience and improve outcomes. 
  7. Systems-Based Practice. Analyze healthcare systems and resources to improve organizational performance, quality of care, and promote equity.
  8. Informatics and Healthcare Technologies. Utilize healthcare information and technologies to support professional standards and enhance the quality of care.
  9. Professionalism. Demonstrates ethical principles, respect, and professional integrity to promote equity and person-centered care across diverse settings.
  10. Personal, Professional, and Leadership Development. Engage in activities that foster well-being, promote growth, cultivate a spirit of inquiry, support the advancement of others, and develop leadership capacity.
